Workday for Benefits

Workday is the State of Maryland’s Statewide Personnel System (SPS) that 51AVuses to manage health benefits enrollment and elections for faculty and staff.  This system is only used for managing State of MD Health Benefits.

What is Workday?

Workday enables 51AVfaculty and staff to manage their benefits online.

Use Workday to:

Enroll as a new employee (effective the 1st of the month following your hire date)

  • You'll receive an email invitation to your 51AVemail within 2-3 weeks of your hire date from: stateofmaryland@myworkday.com and noreply@Onelogin.com
  • Tip: If your link has expired, click "forgot password" for a new active link

Report a life event such as marriage, birth, divorce, death, or loss of coverage.

  • Must be reported within 60 days of the event
  • Documentation required (see guides below)

Enroll or make changes during Open Enrollment (effective January 1st)


Logging into Workday

  2. If you have not set up 2-factor authentication, you will be required to.

Don't know your W Number (State of MD Benefits ID)?

  1. Go to mytu.towson.edu
  2. Select the PeopleSoft HCM tile
  3. Sign in with your NetID and password
  4. Click Personal Data Summary
  5. Scroll to Employee Information
  6. Your W number is listed beside "Workday Benefits ID"

Reporting a Life Event

Planning to add dependents to your benefits?

You must upload the required documentation, or your enrollment will not process. You have 60 days from your event date.

Accepted formats: PDF or JPEG only (scan or photograph your documents)
Where to upload: Attachments box at the end of your event

Common Documentation Examples:

For children: Official Birth Certificate

For spouses: Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate issued by the court clerk

Marriage licenses are NOT accepted. Your document will be rejected if it:

  • Is only signed by an officiant (pastor, priest, rabbi, etc.)

  • Is dated before or on the date of marriage (this is a license, not a certificate)

  • It is in a foreign language without an official translation

Where to Obtain Correct Documentation:

  • Certified marriage certificate: Courthouse in the county where you were married

  • Birth certificate: Division of Vital Records in the state of birth

  • Translated marriage certificate: Search "official translators near me" or contact TU's Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures

Domestic Partner Eligibility

To qualify, you and your domestic partner must:

  • Have lived together for at least 12 months

  • Not be married to anyone else or have another domestic partner

  • Be at least 18 years old and mentally competent to consent

  • Reside together and intend to do so indefinitely

  • Have an exclusive mutual commitment similar to marriage

  • Be jointly responsible for each other's common welfare and share financial obligations

Required Documentation:

Documentation must demonstrate that the partnership has existed for at least 12 months. Date documents as far back as possible.

You must submit:

  1. , AND

  2. Two of the following:

    • Joint lease or mortgage

    • Designation of domestic partner as beneficiary for life insurance AND retirement contract

    • Designation of domestic partner as primary beneficiary in your will

    • Durable property AND health care powers of attorney

    • Joint ownership of a motor vehicle, a joint checking account, or a joint credit account
