Kendle Weaver ‘26 recognized nationally for artistic excellence, community-engaged practice
Towson University student Kendle Weaver ’26 has been selected as a 2025–26 , a national honor awarded through Imagining America (IA). She worked with the the Office of Competitive Fellowships and Awards to achieve this highly competitive fellowship that recognizes undergraduate art students who demonstrate exceptional artistic talent and a strong commitment to community-engaged work. It celebrates work bridges artistic innovation and public impact.
Weaver, an Art & Design major with a concentration in photography, was chosen for her compelling visual storytelling and her dedication to using art as a tool for connection, reflection and social engagement. Weaver seek to make photography accessible for everyone. As a JGS fellow, Weaver will join a cohort of student artists from across the country, receiving support to advance her creative practice while participating in national workshops, mentorship opportunities and public scholarship.
Her fellowship began at conference in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she engaged with other fellows, participated in collaborative art projects and learned about civic engagement, humanitarian issues and projects of other people. As a cumulative project, Weaver is putting together photo gallery featuring alternative students, inspired by her own experience at TU.
IA brings together scholars, artists, designers, humanists and organizers to work together to nurture healthy, vibrant and joyful communities. In partnership with the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility, IA is hosting a workshop that will provide an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to connect and to collectively build an infrastructure for collaboration, learning about community engagement.
